Documentary film: „Matka. Jestem tu” (Mother. I Am Here)
“Matka. Jestem tu” is an intimate short documentary that invites viewers into the world of a large family, seen through a mother’s eyes. The film observes the lives of a family of seven, in which five children and a husband help shape a space full of movement, emotion, closeness and constant challenges. The camera, operated by the mother herself, captures everyday situations and moments of tenderness, exhaustion, joy and concern. It records what often remains unseen: a mother’s emotional effort, her constant presence, her readiness to act and her care for the needs of every family member.
“Matka. Jestem tu” is not a story of heroism or sacrifice. It is a portrait of a woman who tries to preserve her own identity amid many voices, needs and expectations. Her perspective becomes a starting point for reflecting on the meaning of home, family and motherhood in the contemporary world.
Through observational footage and authentic situations, the film shows that everyday life can hold extraordinary stories. It is a story of presence: quiet, consistent and often unnoticed. Of being there for others, but also of finding oneself amid the bustle of family life.
